Ok, so there is a staggering amount of quality work to be found here on DA (duh!). But this morning, I ran across a piece that I felt really deserved a Daily Deviation. So, I've never done this before, but I'm going to submit my suggestion - "Strange Egg" by thelma1. I am mesmerized by the colors, textures, and "suggestiveness" of this piece. It can be anything the viewer wants it to be and because of this, inspires imagination. It is just stunning! Edit: In reading the DD submission guidelines, I see that they rarely give a DD for older art. So, I'm not going to submit the DD suggestion, but I still want to feature this incredible piece.

It's been about five years since I've logged onto DA, because, well, life happened. This also meant that I really didn't pick up the camera much, either. My father passed away Summer of 2013. Fall 2013 brought an amazing trip to Alaska (maybe someday I'll get around to actually reviewing THOSE photos and see if I have any worthy of submission). My pressure-cooker job became even more pressurized, turning into an all-consuming enterprise. Seriously. I know that sounds overly dramatic, but it's totally true. In Fall of 2014, we acquired a new dog - the Newfoundland. Well, I call her our Newfoundland/Irish Wolfhound mix. She's tall and narrow.

I have been searching our house on and off for about 2 years now, hoping to find the manual to our digital camera.  I have felt that I could get some better shots if I could take some shots on a setting other than automatic.  Finally, after much frustration, I decided to check online for the manual.  Voila!  So I am gradually learning a bit more about this camera.  The only problem is that it is whetting my appetite for a DSLR.  I have been contemplating getting one for 2-3 years now and I might not be able to hold out much longer.  I want to play with settings and really feel like I have more control over the outcome.  I do feel that the tig
